The Learner Support Fund
If you need financial help for your studies we have a Learner Support Fund from which you may be able to get help with things like course fees, books, materials, travel, and childcare costs. The fund is means tested, and certain other criteria may apply. To apply, please call into the Student Services office, to discuss what financial help may be available with one of our Advice and Guidance Workers or call:

The Education Maintenance Allowance
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a national scheme for 16 -19 year olds who fulfil the eligibility criteria. Payments are made weekly, direct to your bank account. These range from £10 to £30 per week. It is means tested . There are also attendance and achievement bonuses available up to £100.

Adult Learning Grant
The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) is a means tested allowance of up to £30 per week to adults resident in England. You must be studying full time for a first full level 2 or first full level 3 qualification.
You need to be aged 19 or over.

Higher Education
Money has been given to the College from the Government to financially support both part-time and full-time Higher Education students, this is called the "Access to Learning Fund. (ALF)" Payments do not usually need to be repaid and can be used to cover some of the additional costs of study. Before asking for help from the ALF you should have explored all other available sources of financial support. Certain criteria apply, to discuss this further please make an appointment to speak to a Senior Student Advisor.
