Local initiative welcomed at City College
Coventry City College partners with WeLearnLocal.co.uk to deliver a “Summer of skill-sharing”
www.WeLearnLocal.co.uk is a major new skill-sharing website which launched earlier this month in Coventry. The website aims to provide a hub for learning and instruction information across Coventry – from private instructors and community workshops through to College courses. Going live in August, the website will support more instructors and residents across Coventry to share their skills, insights and experience.
Through a “Summer of skill-sharing” we want to promote learning in Coventry and strengthen our communities through sociable group classes. From health & well-being to languages, business knowledge and insight, IT and digital skills, arts and crafts, culture, music, hobbies and more… Coventry residents will be able to search for lessons and skills being taught in their communities, and all types of instructors will be able to share their skills, experience and insight with others in accessible and bite-size lessons.
City College joins Coventry University Social Enterprise and EntrepreneurialSpark as supporting partners for the project.
Tutors wanting to run courses are encouraged to use WeLearnLocal to access the many rooms and resources available across the city, including Libraries, other community buildings and of course the College’s many classrooms, workshops and specialist facilities such as dance studios, computer suites and treatment rooms.
Clare Hatton, Assistant Principal for Business Development welcomed the move: “We’re delighted to be partners of WeLearnLocal. The team there have understood what drives local learning and have done excellent work in removing barriers. Not only is it easier for learners to find what they want to do, it’s now so much easier for tutors, in fact anyone with a skill they want to share, to find suitable space and an audience.”
