The Learner Support Fund
If you need financial help for your studies we have a Learner Support Fund. You may be able to get help with course/exam fees, books, materials, equipment, travel, and childcare costs. The fund is means tested and other conditions may apply.

The Education Maintenance Allowance
The Education Maintenance Allowance scheme (EMA) will close to new applicants from January 2011. If students currently get EMA they will continue to receive it for the rest of this academic year only.
Adult Learning Grant
The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) is an allowance of up to £30 per week to students aged 19 and over. You must be studying full time for a first full Level 2 or first full Level 3 qualification and not be claiming any benefits.

Care to Learn
If you've under 20 years old and have children, Care to Learn can help you with the cost of your childcare while you're learning. You could receive up to £160 per week for each child.
