International News

April - Drayton Manor
Drayton Manor Park
The students at City College Coventry enjoyed a thrilling day out at Drayton Manor amusement park. After a short forty minute journey the students arrived at Drayton Manor and bravely went on rides such as Apocalypse, Maelstrom, G-Force and Shockwave. For the students who could not face these rides there were always some which were less scary – the Thomas the Tank engine ride was particularly popular with some students. Overall the students had an amazing fun packed day.

May - Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle is an ancient castle which dates back to 1068. Being only 30 minutes drive from City College Coventry it is an ideal day out for the students. The students experienced what it was like to live in the castle over hundreds of years. They also learnt about the gruesome torture chambers under the castle, and the more courageous students followed the ghost trail and met the resident ghosts in the castle.  After this we all enjoyed a walk around historic Warwick and had a relaxing drink and chat in one of the local pubs.

June - Picnic in the Park
The International students and the ESOL students joined up to enjoy an amazing afternoon of fun and games in the War Memorial Park. Over seventy students from countries all over the world joined together to share their food and culture with fellow students.  After lunch the students played traditional British games such as the egg and spoon race, the three legged race and the sack race. Everybody had an amazing day out and fortunately there were no injuries!!

June - Cambridge
The final trip of the year was to Cambridge. The students visited one of Britain’s most famous cities and experienced life studying at Cambridge university when they visited one of Cambridge’s most famous colleges. Some students opted to go punting on the river Cam as well.  All of this was enjoyed with the some of the students from the Health and Social Care course.
