Who is this course for?

If you need to take GCSE Science in a year, this part-time evening course is ideal. It is suitable for mature students and others who need GCSE Science for career purposes or to enter higher education.

When do I attend?

The course is held on Wednesday evenings, 5.45 pm - 8.30 pm.

What do I need to get a place on the course?

You should have a grade D in GCSE Science. If you are a mature student without GCSE Science or you have alternative qualifications, your application will be considered on an individual basis. A place on the course is subject to a successful interview with the course tutor.

What will I study?

Subjects you study include:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed through external examinations in May/June and a controlled practical assessment worth 25% of the total marks.

What can I do after the course?

After you complete the course, you could progress to:

  • Further study of science at a higher level
  • Employment as a laboratory technician or further training in this field
