There is a dedicated sports centre as well as football training pitches for our sports students. They are able to take full advantage of the facilities including a fully equipped gym with cardio-vascular and weights equipment. The College has gone from strength to strength with our football academy - winning the Heart of England College League - and we hope to build on this success next year.
Paddy Connelly - BTEC National Diploma in Sport
Paddy is in his second year of the course and said, "After taking A Levels I was looking for a suitable local sports course. In my first year here I was lucky to be part of the football academy and we won two local leagues. The course at City College has been ideal and I have already passed my community sports leadership award. I want to progress into teaching sports to children when I have completed the course here."
Public Service courses aim to prepare students for entry into the uniformed services, i.e. Police, Fire Service or the Armed Services. Students get the opportunity to build their teamwork skills, participate in competitive sports and adventurous activities. The group often attend outward-bound weekends where, amongst other things, they experience canoeing, skiing, rafting and climbing.
