The Apprenticeship in Construction is designed for young people who are interested in working in the construction industry. The apprenticeship covers all aspects of the trade and is a structured training programme negotiated with the employer. An apprenticeship usually takes between two to four years to complete, depending on the abilities of the employer and the apprentice to cover the work based competences. The young person would normally attend college two days a week with the remaining time spent with the company.
Entry Requirements
To enter onto an Apprenticeship programme (Level 2) you should have GCSE grades D preferably in Mathematics and English and an employer able to provide the required occupational competences.
However, if you do not have the required GCSE grades but you have achieved a Foundation Construction Award in the appropriate craft area, you would also be considered for an Apprenticeship level 2 programme.
