Mission Statement
The mission states the purpose of the organisation and what it wants to achieve in the larger environment. The full version is:

Or in short:
"Responding to Diversity; Raising the Standard; Taking Education Further."
Introduction
City College Coventry was launched in February 2002, by the then Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Estelle Morris. Although essentially new, the College has a long tradition in teaching and learning having been formed by the merger of Coventry Technical College and Tile Hill College.
City College Coventry is a large general further education college with some 12,000 students (2500 full-time), 500 permanent staff with another 200 part-time teachers at any one time. The annual turnover is £24 million.
City College Coventry at Swanswell
The college completed its move to Swanswell in January 2009, bringing the three previous sites of Tile Hill, Butts and Maxwell Centres onto one new ‘brown field’ site in the heart of the Coventry.
Swanswell is situated on the edge of the city centre close to Pool Meadow Bus Station and the Coventry Ringroad. The College offers a state of the art learning environment for all students. Courses are offered in construction, engineering, vehicle engineering, computing, media, multimedia, music, health and social care, early years, art and design, hairdressing and beauty, humanities, fashion, professional studies and performing arts and courses for students with specific learning difficulties.
The College boasts brand new computer rooms, refectories, Student Services and Learning Resource Centres. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard, projector and internet access. Both buildings are Wi-Fi enabled and have facilities for the disabled.
The college is accessible to the public and will “shop-front” many of its education activities, making it an attractive and exciting place to be.
City College Coventry’s move to Swanswell has been part of the biggest urban regeneration project in Coventry since the end of the war. This involved working closely with a whole range of partners but particularly Coventry City Council, the local and national Learning & Skills Councils and the Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands.
A strong customer focus
City College Coventry has one of the most successful apprenticeship programmes in the region. Our apprentices are employed in a variety of industries including construction crafts, engineering, business administration, accountancy, hairdressing, early year and motor vehicle engineering.
The College also has a strong English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) provision. It attracts some 100 international students per year.
The College also offers access to higher education courses and many other courses for adults. There is a wide range of provision for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including specialist provision for the deaf. The College has a strong commitment to widen the participation of those groups, which have not traditionally entered further education.
Meeting the needs of employers
City College Coventry has a long and proud history of working with employers. Every year we engage with hundreds of businesses from across Coventry and Warwickshire, the West Midlands region and through wider national contacts. From owner managers, Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to national and international businesses City College Coventry has built mutually beneficial relationships irrespective of size or sector.
We work with employers in many different ways depending on the needs of their businesses. The training we offer improves the skills of young people who will eventually move onto University or become the skilled workers of the future.
The College is a national centre for Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) Engineering, boasting clients such as Arriva, First Group, National Express and Go-Ahead Travel. It is also a regional centre for engineering and construction. Its engineering client base includes four major international car companies, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Cummins. It has a strong local reputation for professional and other vocational training in many other commercial areas.
