The Remote Desktop, or 'RDP' as it is called, allows you to access additional software from within the college and from your own home. It also allows you access to your N:\ drive space so that you can access and work on files from home which are stored at the college.
Please note that
To access RDP, click on the start menu and select Programs,
Accessories, Communications, then click Remote Desktop Connection.

A box appears (as above). Type in either of the following depending on what type of system you wish to access.

Only students studying on specialist technology courses are registered to use this service and will be informed by the lecturer if available. |
and then click on the Options button.

The Options screen appears (as above). Click on the tab Local Resources and look at the section called Local Devices.
By ticking the boxes Disk Drives and Serial Ports you will have access to your College drives, printers and will also be able to use your storage media (memory cards, USB Sticks).
This step will only be required the first time you log on via the remote desktop. On the next box click on OK.
When the log-in box appears, type in your College Username and Password and click OK. The Remote Desktop appears.
